                                                          Dry Needling

Dry needling is a modern treatment designed to ease muscular pain. Its popularity is growing. During dry needling, a practitioner inserts several filiform needles into your skin. Filiform needles are fine, short, stainless steel needles that don’t inject fluid into the body. That’s why the term “dry” is used. Practitioners place the needles in “trigger points” in your muscle or tissue. Dry needling is also sometimes called intramuscular stimulation. The points are areas of knotted or tense muscle. Dry needling practitioners say the needle helps release the knot and relieve any muscle pain or spasms. The needles will remain in your skin for a short period of time. The length of time depends on the practitioner. Some healthcare professionals, such as physical therapists and massage therapists, receive some training in dry needling.

**In Texas, a Licensed Physical Therapist may provide instructions to any person who is asymptomatic relating to the instructions being given without a referral, including instruction to promote health, wellness, and fitness.** If you are seeking these techniques– you do not need a prescription. Health and Wellness instruction may still qualify for deduction on your taxes but is not an insurance reimbursable item. If you are not under a doctor's care but still have aches and pains and would like to feel better and truly heal to the best of your abilities - Private Instruction in Health and Wellness is a great option for you.

                                                                            Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release is a specialty massage technique that addresses the connective tissue.  You will be amazed at how effective it is at freeing you to feel better and return to a healthy active life style. Fascia is a type of white connective tissue that is very strong yet flexible.  It serves as the pliable foundation for all of the soft tissues in our body. Fascia layers to separate muscles, it forms slings to support organs, and it creates various compartments for blood vessels and nerves to pass through. It can vary greatly in size from a thin invisible netting under the superficial skin to large broad bands, and thick base layers against the bones. When fascia becomes too restricted, it can result in pain, inflammation, discomfort, and adhesions.  Stretching is beneficial after myofascial release to promote healing  and pliability of tissues.
