Reduce Swelling. Restore Mobility. Protect Your Health
Living with persistent swelling can feel uncomfortable, frustrating, and heavy. Whether you are noticing swelling in an arm after breast cancer surgery, in your legs or pelvic region following gynecological or prostate cancer care, or due to a vascular condition, it is important to know that you do not have to just live with the discomfort.
At Mahogany Pelvic Health and Wellness, we provide certified, specialized Lymphedema Therapy using the global medical gold standard of care: Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT). While lymphedema is a chronic condition, our targeted physical therapy treatments are highly effective at moving trapped fluid, softening tight tissues, and giving you back full control over your body and your mobility.
Early Warning Signs: When to Seek Help
The single strongest predictor of success is early intervention. Catching lymphedema before permanent skin thickening or tissue scarring sets in allows us to get you faster, more dramatic results.
Schedule an evaluation if you notice any of the following in your arm, leg, breast, or pelvic area:
- A feeling of heaviness, tightness, or fullness in the limb.
- Your rings, watch, clothing, or shoes suddenly feel too tight, even though your weight hasn't changed.
- The skin looks shiny, feels taut, or indentation leaves a temporary mark when you press it (pitting).
- A noticeable reduction in the flexibility or movement of your wrist, shoulder, ankle, or hip.
- Alternating or persistent aching, burning, or deep discomfort in the affected area.
Lymphatic Massage
- Lymphatic massage (manual lymphatic drainage) is a gentle, rhythmic technique that stimulates the lymphatic system to move excess fluid, reduce swelling, and support immune function. Regular sessions can improve circulation, decrease puffiness and fluid retention, speed recovery after exercise or minor injury, reduce stress and muscle tension, and promote clearer skin. Typical frequency is weekly to monthly depending on goals; short treatment plans (4–8 sessions) often show benefits. It’s safe for most people but should be avoided or modified with active infection, untreated blood clots, certain heart conditions, or without clearance after recent surgery—schedule a consult or your healthcare provider before starting.
